About Nonius Labs (R&D Division)
Nonius Labs is the research and development (R&D) division of Nonius, responsible for designing, building, and integrating cutting-edge technologies into our product ecosystem. We develop next-generation platforms, APIs, cloud services, and edge appliances, working closely with operations teams to accelerate innovation and bring high-quality solutions to market.
To support our growth, we are looking for a Labs Business Analyst, approx. 3 to 5 years of experience, who understands technology, software architecture and system integration, someone who can assist the Division Director in driving structured decision-making, improving workflows and ensuring smooth execution of R&D initiatives.
Job Description
As a Labs Business Analyst, you will be responsible for tracking, analyzing, and structuring product components, optimizing R&D workflows and assisting in technology-related decision-making.
You won’t be actually coding for the platforms but you must have a strong understanding of software, cloud platforms and system integration to provide valuable insights and process improvements. Your role is critical to ensuring smooth collaboration between business and technical teams, helping Nonius Labs scale its innovation pipeline.
You will report directly to the Division Director, acting as the process enforcer and strategic assistant, ensuring that all steps in R&D, software architecture and product development are structured, documented and continuously optimized.
This is a full-time, on-site position at our Maia, Portugal office.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives
- Gain a deep understanding of Nonius Labs’ technology stack, product components, and system integrations.
- Identify how different software, hardware, and cloud services interact within the Nonius ecosystem.
- Assist in structuring technical documentation and product roadmaps, ensuring clarity and strategic alignment.
- Ensure that R&D and product development processes are followed and documented properly.
- Maintain up-to-date roadmaps and process documentation across different product areas.
- Support the Division Director and Team leaders in streamlining processes for faster decision-making and execution.
- Track KPIs related to R&D efficiency, resource allocation, and product development progress.
- Generate management reports for leadership, highlighting bottlenecks, dependencies, and optimization opportunities.
- Ensure visibility into technology adoption, integration timelines, and product scalability.
- Provide structured insights and recommendations to help optimize product development cycles.
Must Have
- Tech enthusiast with a strong understanding of software, cloud platforms, and integrations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Management, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, in a tech-driven environment.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Strong analytical skills to break down technical components into structured processes.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with engineers, product managers, and leadership.
- Organized and process-oriented mindset, with high attention to detail.
- Experience in project planning, resource tracking, and coordinating shared resources across teams
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with IoT, API integrations, or cloud technologies.
- Experience with data analysis tools (Google Looker Studio, Power BI, or similar).
- Basic understanding of software development lifecycles and agile methodologies.
- Exposure to automation tools or basic scripting to support reporting or process efficiency.
- Experience working directly with technical teams (e.g. developers, DevOps, QA).
